Privacy Policy

WordAcuity is a word-board training app made by Undercurve, LLC (“Undercurve”, “we”, “us”), which is responsible for the data described here. We built WordAcuity to need as little of your personal information as possible: there are no accounts, no email sign-up, and no advertising. This page explains exactly what the app does collect and why.

What we collect

An anonymous player ID. The app signs you in anonymously (via Firebase Authentication). This random identifier links your practice history and Daily standings to your device. It is not your name, email address, or phone number — we never ask for those.
A generated display name. Your public name on standings (for example, “clever-otter”) is picked from a word generator, never typed by you. In friends-only Arena matches you may type a nickname, which is shown to the players in your room.
Gameplay data. Boards you play, words you find, scores, timing, and the skill metrics computed from them (such as your Acuity rating). This is the product — it powers your Lab history, Coach recommendations, and Daily standings.
Usage analytics and error reports. First-party events such as “session completed” or “tutorial started”, plus technical error reports if the app hits a bug. These go only to our own servers — we do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
Purchase status. If you subscribe to WordAcuity Pro, the purchase is processed entirely by Apple. We receive subscription status (active, expired, product) from Apple via RevenueCat, our billing processor, keyed to your anonymous player ID. We never see your payment details.

What we don't collect

No real names, email addresses, contacts, photos, location, microphone, camera, or advertising identifiers. We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not sell or share your data with data brokers or advertisers. Ever.

Where your data lives

Durable history and analytics are stored on our servers on Google Cloud in the United States. Live multiplayer (Arena) state — room presence, the board, found words — passes through Google Firebase and is ephemeral. Most gameplay also works fully offline, stored only on your device.

Deleting your data

Open Settings → Privacy → Delete my data in the app. This erases the app's data from your device and permanently unlinks your server-side history from your identity: the anonymous ID mapping is destroyed, so the remaining gameplay and transaction records can no longer be connected to you or your device. We retain those de-identified records for product analytics and financial record-keeping. If you have an active subscription, it is managed by Apple — cancel it in your device's Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions; deleting your data does not cancel it.

Children

WordAcuity is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. The app collects no real-world identity from any user.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above. Material changes will be noted in the app.
